Moving swims pays off on Busters Lake!

Only 375 miles from Calais. Lac de Viennay - Busters Lake is still an "underdog" in our range of pay lakes in France. A beautiful carp lake that has not yet been discovered by most carp anglers and is a.o. known for the unique blue color of the water. Busters Lake has been expertly managed by the hospitable Gerard for many years and the best thing is to book the water exclusively with a group of 4 carp anglers. Ideal water for the fisherman who like splashing action and big healthy carp, go to France for the first time and enjoy fishing together exclusively on a carp water at a good price.

Marco, Remco and Robbert were smart. The three of them booked the whole water for their session and thus have Busters Lake perfectly all to themselves. They are enjoying a well-deserved fishing holiday this week and we can report that they catch one beautiful carp after another!

Marco says: “This is the first time for us on Busters Lake and we love it! A hospitable reception by Gerard; a very friendly and helpful guy. We first looked at the facilities and got some explanation about the fishing water, such as how it was fished the week before and what was caught. Because of the Corona crisis, there was of course little fishing. The week before us there had also been three gentlemen who had a total of 34 carp on the mat after the reopening of the border from swim 5.

Because of this we also got advice from Gerard to give the other side of the island a chance as the fish would probably be there. So no sooner said than done; Remco and Robbert to swim 5 and I to swim 2. The first night was quiet on Busters Lake. The first carp only came out in the morning.

In preparation, we had already researched everything about Busters Lake and looked at the options in terms of choice. I actually wanted to start at swim 7, but went to swim 2 on Gerard's advice because that swim normally produces well. I looked at this for two nights and did not want to give up this spot too quickly. Unfortunately it was pretty quiet. This was also the deeper part of the water. Then I decided to move to swim 7, where the water is shallower.

Moving turned out to be a good choice! Within the hour I had the first fish; a beautiful mirror carp of 15.6 kilos. This went on for a while and because of this I caught 6 carp within 24 hours! Then because of the heat in the afternoon we decided to give the swim some rest and go to the Super U to do some shopping. We were now fishing for 3 days. Yesterday and today we caught some more; including a 17 kilo common carp, which is a new French PB for me. So I am very satisfied!

In terms of approach, we all fish with a mix of boilies and particles consisting of buckwheat, corn and Scopex flavor from MTC Baits. I fish two rods with a Ronnie-Rig with a yellow pop-up and 1 rod with a blow-back rig with fake corn on it. The bites come on all three rods. I also recommend Gerard's particles that you can order in advance for a reasonable price.

What I really like about Busters Lake is that we booked the whole water with 3 people, so that you do not suffer from others or a peg draw. In this way you pay relatively little more than to book a swim. Gerard is very pleasant to deal with, helpful and brings fresh bread every morning. The facilities are excellent and it is striking that particles are really recommended in combination with small fish. Today we caught some nice carp again. Remco a nice 20.8 kilo mirror carp and I caught two more mirror carp last night.”

Well done you all! Good angling guys. So many beautiful catches, despite the warm temperatures and the carp fishing holiday on Busters Lake is not over yet. That's really enjoyable. We cross our fingers for more of these beautiful catches for you!

Moving to another swim turned out to be a good choice!
