Great midweek for Davy and his young son Joppe on Cooper's Lake!
Cooper’s Lake -only 150 miles from Calais- will be open in 2020 for the carp angler on the domain De Karperhoeve and is about 1 hectare in size. Last winter, two beautiful log cabins with a covered terrace were placed on the short sides of the water. Due to the elongated shape of the water both sites have a lot of privacy. The log cabin on swim 1 is a short distance from the facilities, perfect for the angler who likes to stay close to the shower and toilet area! Davy and his son Joppe booked a midweek and caught so much that they even let the rods out of the water at night..
Davy and his 4-year-old son Joppe caught 30 fish on Cooper’s Lake on their midweek quality-time father and son carp fishing holiday! 20 beautiful carp, a sturgeon, 4 catfish and the famous white koi. Monday to Wednesday the weather was really hot! Thursday came a weather cover with gusts of rain through Friday. As a result, the catches came to a halt.
The record carp on Cooper's Lake currently weighs around 20kg. (released in November 2019) and with about 150 carp on the water, action is almost guaranteed and the water is ideal for the fisherman who appreciates action and some extra comfort. Both spots are neatly laid out and equipped with a beautiful log cabin with power connection and covered terrace, the perfect accommodation for a comfortable fishing holiday. A great destination for Davy to take his son Joppe with him and in this way make him a bit enthusiastic about carp fishing!
Davy would recommend booking a carp fishing holiday on Cooper’s Lake for those anglers who want some action but know how to drill a fish to keep it away from the trees. He gives as a tip to immediately drill the fish away from the side during a bite to prevent it from swimming. A fish was stuck 2x along the row of trees in old lines and owner Timmy immediately came to the rescue to remove these lines with his wading suit and rake.
A nice fact of this fishing holiday on Cooper's Lake is that Joppe was keen to catch a sturgeon and caught it. This on its own 6ft. fishing rod with a little help from father Davy of course. A fantastic sense of pride for Joppe and he proudly poses with his father in the picture! In addition to carp fishing, Davy also liked fishing with the fishing rod with which he also managed to crochet a number of beautiful fish. Both men enjoyed the mid-week meal service, so that they had no worries about this.
In terms of fishing approach at Cooper's Lake, Davy advises not to be too difficult. Add a little extra and the rods run off quite quickly. Usually after half an hour both during the early morning and late afternoon. During the day it was less with the bites but they still caught fish!
Cooper's Lake is a great destination to have been with my son. We had a great midweek together!
